Keep Going Beyond Infinity
It wasn’t until I was 25 when I got my first & only tattoo. Good chance we’re getting more.
It’s on my left wrist and it says “Keep Going” with the last “g” in going pointing an arrow forward.
When I was looking for the perfect font for this tattoo, I had narrowed it down to two. Still unsure of which one I liked the most, I put them side by side to think about it. Alright Bob - you’re going to be stuck with this for the rest of your life so let’s make a GREAT decision, shall we?
It wasn’t until this moment did I actually see the names of the font’s and when I came across “Beyond Infinity” it felt like it was meant to be.
Keep Going Beyond Infinity. Sign me UP!
I booked an appointment with this super talented gal Alexis Xol who I met through podcasting that works in North Hollywood, CA. Now this tattoo is what I like to call a “cake walk” for someone like her who is extremely talented BUT I appreciated her taking her time, making it an experience for this newly inked bearded man and I ultimately loved the way it came out.
9+ months later and there are still times when I look down and go holy shit - you really do have a tattoo ehhh?
Needless to say, I love it.
This has evolved into one of the mottos I really live by and think it says so MUCH in just two words.
I got this tattooed on me at a pivotal moment in my life. I had consulted my first podcast client AND locked in my job with Liquid I.V. within the SAME DAY! I had already been considering the tattoo for some time but told myself there had to be a reason I got it.
I didn’t wanna just walk into the tattoo shop on a random day of the week. I wanted there to be an inspiration, a goal accomplished or something special. This was a BIG day for me so I booked the appointment immediately.
I think we can all look at our individual lives and probably think of an example where we wished we had kept going instead of tossing in the towel.
I run four miles a day, five days a week and you better BELIEVE I have to remind myself of this every time I run.
Sometimes it’s within the first mile and other times it’s in the home stretch. One promise I make to myself when starting the run… I will not stop. Period. I don’t care if I feel like I’m out of breath, I start to cramp, my leg is hurting, my stomach is rumblin’ blah blah blaaah. NOPE! Stopping is not an option, I have to keep making progress forward.
Somedays the runs are easier than others but no matter what, I do NOT stop until I am finished.
That’s something I’ve realized about myself. Once I have my eyes on the prize and I commit, I will keep showing up until the job is done. That’s just who I am. Grit runs through my blood baby - I love it!!
Do I think we all have the ability inside us to keep going in our own individual lives? ABSOLUTELY!
If you disagree, we need to change that mindset ASAP. When you may ask? It starts TODAY!
We must sign a contract to ourselves that we will not lose hope. We will not stop. We will not cave into negative feedback of others. We will not listen to the voice in our head that can be our biggest critic.
We commit to the mission and we provide no option B. We go all in, no questions asked.
I think what stops most people from getting to where they want to be in life is the ability to keep showing up.
Yessss I know it’s hard but that’s what helps us appreciate life so much more.
Imagine if everything was just handed to us in life? Ewwww. I know in this moment it probably seems amazing to have a credit card that has unlimited funds but how long until that gets old? I may be waaaay out of pocket saying this but I really do believe the real success & joy of reaching goals is found IN the process of getting it.
Those late nights into the early hours of the morning we are putting in overtime. That decision to dump your entire life savings into this idea that you have when everyone else thinks you’re crazy. There’s a ton of risks that come from chasing a dream but as we all know, there’s also a ton of reward.
There’s a famous Eric Thomas video called How Bad Do You Want It? that comes to mind when I think about people overcoming their biggest obstacles in life. Eric goes onto say “When you want to succeed as badly as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”
That’s the key ingredient we’re sometimes missing in our cabinet. That mentality that we want it as BADLY as we want this next breath.
Now that can come off as aggressive but the message is right on the money. Do you want to succeed as badly as you want to breathe?
How bad do we want it is the question we all need to ask ourselves.
If you want something bad enough, you’ll keep going because ain’t noooo mountain hiiiigh enough. We can overcome ANY obstacle. Some take longer than others but that doesn’t mean we can’t reach the other side! It just means we’ll have to put in more effort and have patience for the process. So long as we check off those two boxes, we’ll find our way over.
When there’s a will, there’s a way.
The “way” to get to where you want to be in life is by closing your eyes, visualizing everything you’ve ever dreamed of, opening them back up, reverse engineer the steps of HOW you can get there and then getting to work.
The key is reminding yourself at every moment of where you’re going. That’s the fuel that’ll keep you going.
That’s the fuel that keeps me going beyond infinity.
Are you with me?
